Student Placement and Evaluation
Initial student placement is tentatively based on the course they request as well as their responses to the previous study questionaire on the Qalam Center enrollment forms. Every student entering Qalam Center Arabic courses is required to take a written language placement test as well as undergo one-on-one oral assessment with an instructor. Depending on the student’s level, this testing can take as little as 15 minutes (as in the case of beginners) or as much as three hours (as in the case of Intermediate-Advanced learners). This process ensures ideal course placement and enables us to allow students to enter on-going courses with fluidity and as little disruption as possible.
Record Keeping
Student Progress is recorded on a daily basis and instructors closely monitor student strengths and weaknesses. Every student must pass course exams and demonstrate achievement appropriate to the level in order to continue to the next course. Student class attendance, activity participation, and homework completion are carefully tracked and reflected on out-going student transcripts.
