Qalam wa Lawh’s academic semester program is geared towards, but not limited to, university students looking to study abroad in the beautiful seaside city of Rabat, Morocco.

Semester study abroad programs provide Arabic language courses, suited for all levels of proficiency in addition to Area study courses and experiential learning opportunities through volunteer and cultural immersion activities.

Semester programs are fully customizable and students can select their Arabic, Area study, and accommodation options. Dedicated student advisers are also available to help arrange a semester schedule specific to the students’ interests and objectives.

Qalam’s Arabic Semester Program includes all of the following components, as well as various other opportunities and amenities that can be added at the student’s preference.

Program components

  • In-country Orientation
  • Arabic Language Courses in Modern Standard Arabic, Moroccan Arabic, Arabic Literature, Media Arabic, classical Arabic, and more.
  • Area Study Courses
  • Cultural immersion activities: excursions, site visits, workshops, group discussions, lectures, etc.
  • Housing Accommodations: Homestays or student residence accommodations
  • Optional weekend excursions to key destinations in Morocco: Marrakech, Fes, Casablanca, Tangier, Chefchaouen, & the Sahara
  • On-site Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) at the end of the program
