Alumni Profile: Addie Block

Meet Addie Block (who goes by Saida while in Morocco!), a former Qalam wa Lawh student who is already assisting and motivating new generations of future Arabic speakers! We caught up with Addie at the Qalam wa Lawh booth at the Middle East Studies Association (MESA) Conference in San Antonio, Texas, USA this weekend.

Addie studied at Qalam wa Lawh in 2012 through its partnership with the US National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) Program, an initiative by the US government to help young students become global leaders.

She currently works as a recruiter at Indiana University for their Arabic Flagship Program, helping students choose a program that provides them with the opportunity to gain both an Arabic and a cultural education in Middle Eastern countries around the world – including a year of study in Morocco!

We are so pleased to see Addie is doing so well, and so proud of her Moroccan Arabic. Check it out!
