Eid Mubarak Said! Today Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Fitr, or the Holiday of Fast Breaking. The holiday marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast from before sunrise to sunset.
Our students at Qalam wa Lawh took part in many Ramadan traditions this year. [Check out the Qalam blog to see students helping serve Iftar at the Arabic Language Cafe and read about our Ramadan program!]
Arabic students wish everyone a happy Eid!
In Morocco, Eid al Fitr is a day to spend with family and friends, eating and relaxing together. It often starts with a large Iftar [or Ftour in Morocco] and a table filled with homemade sweets. Throughout the day, Moroccan families visit neighbors and relatives throughout the city. Typically, Eid and the following day are holidays from work throughout the kingdom.
This year, Eid al Fitr was celebrated by much of the world yesterday. Here in Morocco, however, we are celebrating today!
All of us at Qalam wa Lawh wish you a happy and peaceful Eid holiday and a wonderful year. Here is our Eid message from some of our students on a weekend trip to Chefchaouen!
