Qalam wa Lawh Center for Arabic Studies in Rabat, Morocco is the perfect place for students looking to improve their Arabic language skills and experience Moroccan and Arabic culture at the same time. And through Qalam wa Lawh’s merit-based Ibn Battuta Arabic Scholarship, students from around the world can take part in this immersive opportunity for free!
Students come from around the world to study Arabic at Qalam all throughout the year, and many students choose to take part in the Academic Semester program. With this 14-week session, students take part in Arabic language courses at their proper level, as well as Area Studies courses, such as history and political science courses, that give students the opportunity to further immerse themselves into the culture. Students can also choose to take part in a host of cultural activities both on and off campus.
Students interested in the Ibn Battuta Scholarship, applicable to the the Spring 2020 Session, must send in their application on or before 30 July 2019.
Upcoming Arabic scholarships for 2020
Recipients for the Scholarship are chosen based on their dedication to the study of the Arabic language. Students may choose to apply for a 14-week semester session (fall or spring), or a 4-week session (summer or winter). Qalam wa Lawh awards both full and partial scholarships.
Scholarships apply to Qalam’s semi-intensive Modern Standard Arabic classes, providing a total of 20 hours of Arabic study per week for recipients. Learn more about Qalam’s Arabic programs here.

Applications must include an essay, three recommendation letters, and transcripts from all previous Arabic courses.
